Watches as seen at the Oscars 2020
Kanye West seen at the Vanity Fair afterparty wearing a Ikepod Hemipod Dual Time Chronograph. Not the first time he’s been seen sporting this particular watch, its known- just like its wearer – as a somewhat of a quirky avant-garde ‘nobody else has it’ taste.
Spike Lee has made many a magazine column showing off his timepiece -a circa 2018 rose-gold Rolex GMT-Master II. Appropriate of course as the Spike is newly announced mentor of the Rolex Brand. One of the best looking colour ways of the Rolex, in our opinion.
The icon that is Mr Antonio Banderas showed the world his watch during his speech and that kiss blowing episode after. The Bulgari Octo Finnissim , one of the worlds thinnest watches fitted neatly under his tux sleeve for most of the ceremony.
No surprise to us that Remi Malek turned up with a Cartier watch. He has ben seen many times in various Santos and Tank models but at these Oscars he wore a vintage 1933 Pasha de Cartier. Cartiers first waterproof watch from ‘way back’ and much loved by the Hollywood elite.
A funky modern ‘not like everyone else’s’ watch that we did see on the red carpet was on the wrist of Colin Jost, American comedian and fiancé of Scarlett Johansson. A Tag Heuer Monaco . Very gorgeous, not your cliche looking slimline dress watch at all.
The best looking watch we saw? Probably New Zealand director/actor Taika Waititi and his Panerai Luminor . A Panerai PAM 728 no less. Word has it that Taika is a ‘watch guy’ and has a collection of fine timepieces. We look forward to spotting them at future red carpet events.
